I am currently working on a new superhero series. I take typical "white" superheros and make them look more like my kids. We need more representation. I also have some new apparel in the works with this new series. Stay tuned for updates.

The background of my art has several meanings. First, I've been working the last few years trying to make art from items we typically throw out. Bottle art and bottle lights were something I dabbled in. Then one day, after a friend introduced me to paint pens, I decided to try painting on the back of cereal boxes. I have done watercolor art and paintings like acrylic and oil, and always found the materials needed were always so expensive. My very first art on boxes I was inspired to paint around the edges of a person so that the color of the box represented the color of skin. Being a mom of bi-racial children, it was something that was near to my heart. I've come to understand very well how representation in my children's lives is important. This is a way for me to bring a unique art form in to my kids lives, that allows for representation in my art. Read my "about" page to learn more. Below is a video collage of an art piece from start to finish so you can see how I make this art. Thank you for taking the time to explore my art. I hope you enjoy it. |
